Placement Opportunities

Are you passionate about sports or fitness and interested in teaching in further education? Sheffield Wednesday FC Community Programme is offering postgraduate students from Sheffield Hallam University the opportunity to complete their qualification through a year-long placement at their Community College.

This opportunity follows a blended approach, with four days spent at the college and one day dedicated to studying at Sheffield Hallam University. To give you, as a student, the best exposure possible to the real-life teaching world to kick-start your professional career.

Areas you will learn and develop are:

• Pedagogy specific to Further education

• Effective planning and marking to extend learning

• How to effectively assess students at different times during a lesson to maximise their potential

• How to use technology to aid your teaching

• The professional standards of teaching

• How to blend teaching while supporting the students' extracurricular activities on our bespoke football programme

• Professional standards for you as an individual

Each trainee teacher will be supported by a dedicated mentor, who will provide guidance, support, and constructive feedback throughout the programme.

Entry Requirements

• Undergraduate degree (minimum 2:2)

• GCSE English and Maths (grade 4/C or above)

• Enthusiasm for teaching in sport or fitness

Placements start in September 2025.
