PLPS Mental Health Awareness Week

This term, we have been working with a group of children from Sacred Heart Primary School as part of our Premier League Primary Stars programme. This week, the children participated in a session linked to Mental Health Awareness Week, focusing on how they can regulate their emotions through football and turn negative feelings into something positive that helps their performance, rather than disrupting their game.

The children took part in a 'Be Inspired' activity, where they listened to different football scenarios and dribbled to a box representing the emotion they would feel. For example, the red box represented feeling angry, dysregulated or frustrated. We then discussed how everyone might feel in those situations and explored regulation techniques, such as 'hot chocolate breathing', to help bring them back to a positive mindset, ready to continue participating.
