Pathways to Work


The Pathways to Work project, funded by SYMCA (South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority), supports young people in overcoming barriers to employment.

Participants benefit from weekly sessions with a dedicated Employability Officer, who provides tailored one-to-one support.

Programme Support

Through the programme, participants will:

  • Find work that matches their skills and interests

  • Develop a personalised action plan to address individual barriers

  • Build confidence and self-esteem

  • Learn essential employability skills to prepare for paid work

  • Explore and understand progression opportunities

  • Improve wellbeing and resilience

  • Identify personal goals and aspirations

  • Receive support with CV writing, job applications, and interview preparation

Eligibility Criteria

To take part, individuals must:

  • Live in the Sheffield City Council area

  • Be aged 16–24 (with some flexibility for those up to 28)

  • Not currently be in employment, education, or training

Additional Support

The programme also provides access to funding for:

  • Accredited qualifications

  • Interview clothing

  • Travel expenses

  • Therapy and physiotherapy

  • Debt support
