SWFCCP Tackles Chronic Joint Pain!

Sheffield Wednesday FC Community Programme is delighted to announce it will be tackling Chronic Joint Pain by providing physical well-being support for those who need it the most.

SWFCCP will work with local physiotherapists, general practitioners, and nurses to facilitate referrals to the programme, which is designed to educate participants to develop their self-management process, focusing on coping strategies through pacing activities, motivational work, and behavior change methods to provide comprehensive support.

Exercise is a main treatment for Osteoarthritis, and through the programme, participants will lose weight and strengthen the muscles around the affected joints, which can help ease pain and reduce stiffness.

Sean Graves, Health Manager at SWFCCP, said: "Our health team will provide attentive support for participants with tailored exercise plans. As excessive weight is a major contributing factor to Chronic Joint Pain, all participants will have their weight monitored throughout the programme so we can work together to set a realistic and achievable weight loss goal."

On completion of the programme, participants will be further supported towards regular participation in one of SWFCCP's many other health programmes.
