Driving Conversations Forward: RC3E joins SWFCCP Men's Mental Health Talking Group

Sheffield Wednesday FC Community Programme recently welcomed remote control car company RC3E to Parsons Cross Forum for a special session of our 'Let's Talk It Out' men's mental health talking club.

The session brought together participants from both our Parsons Cross and Crookes talk groups, giving everyone the opportunity to spend time together, take part in activities and enjoy a bit of friendly competition.

Our talk groups provide safe, relaxed spaces where men can come along, have a chat, enjoy some refreshments and, most importantly, feel comfortable opening up about how they're doing.

For this special session, Ebi Sakpere, founder of RC3E, led an activity which saw participants get behind the controls of remote-control cars.

The racing provided a fun and engaging way to explore the challenges we can face in everyday life and how these can relate to our mental health.

Ebi said: "It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved, engaging with the activity and, most importantly, having fun. There were lots of smiles throughout the session, which is exactly what we wanted to see.

"We set up a range of different tracks and activities, and it was great to see everyone getting involved."

Florent Fadiga, Health Lead at SWFCCP, who leads our talk group sessions, said: "The main idea behind the remote car racing was relating it to mental health and how the two have a significant amount of comparisons.

"We explored how the remote transmitter can be seen as our brains, the car represents our bodies, and the circuit represents the life journey we are all on, with the obstacles representing the problems we may face in life.

"It was a pleasure to see all the participants enjoying themselves, smiling and engaging.

"Long may it continue as we aim to mentally lift as many people as possible using as many different methods to do so."
