Talk Club visits Scarborough
Participants from one of Sheffield Wednesday FC Community Programme’s weekly mental health Talk Club sessions recently enjoyed a trip to sunny Scarborough.
The group was made up of attendees from two of SWFCCP’s many Talk Clubs. Usually, they meet at venues across the city during the week to chat, share a brew, and open up. But this time, they headed to the seaside to enjoy the sunshine, share some laughs, strengthen their friendships – and of course, have an ice cream.
One participant said:
“It’s brilliant getting to know everyone. We’re like a family at the Parson Cross group, and we’ve just clicked with the rest of the lads.”
Florent Fadiga, Health Lead at SWFCCP, added:
“It’s fantastic to see the lads come together like this – smiling, building bonds. These people didn’t know each other before coming here, and now you’d believe they’d been friends for life. A big thanks to Michelle Dwaine from Sheffield City Council, the South West Local Area Committee, and TARA for making this opportunity possible.”
SWFCCP now runs a total of eight Talk Clubs across the city – a powerful reflection of their ongoing commitment to supporting not only the physical but also the mental wellbeing of the community.
