SWFCCP team up with CIF for the ‘Re-Kicks project’

Sheffield Wednesday FC Community Programme is partnering with Cif on a mission to reboot the beautiful game for thousands of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and inspire on-pitch confidence through the restoration of used football boots.

Teaming up with England and Chelsea footballer Cole Palmer, we’re aiming to provide ‘free kicks’ to budding young players in Sheffield, helping them to feel pitch-ready.

After conducting research with UK-wide sports charity Sported, Cif found that 97% of their community sports groups believe that their young players feel more confident playing sports when they have the right kit. However, a staggering 98% of group leaders agreed that the cost of new football boots is a cost-of-living challenge for their families.

Something needs to change. Using the power of our community, we will be collecting even the dirtiest of boots to be cleaned and re-distributed across the UK using Cif, ready for young football players ahead of the 2024/25 footy season.

To provide more opportunities for young players to get on the pitch, we need your help! SWFCCP staff will be outside the Owls Megastore on Saturday 27th April ahead of SWFC's final home game of the season.

Fans are encouraged to bring along their dirty and old boots, so they can be cleaned up and donated to those who need them the most.

After the game, the donation box will be at the SWFC Community Programme Facility (Claywheels Lane, S6 1LZ) Monday’s 5pm - 8pm and Saturday’s 9am - 10am.

Please join us in our mission and donate your used football boots at your local collection points or by ordering a postage bag.
